To my mind, the most advantageous venues for shipboard artists are staircase landings. As passengers toil up and down, multiple viewings reinforce the artist's vision. One canvas between Decks 9 and 10 of Dawn's main staircase is the work of Californian Laurie Chase, a breathtaking, photo-realistic panorama of Portofino harbor. Her impressionistic representation of those limpid waters and sweep of house fronts should ease innumerable staircase trips.
